ITIL 5 certification cost
ITIL 5 Foundation cost (new candidates)
For someone certifying for the first time, PeopleCert has priced ITIL Foundation (Version 5) identically to the ITIL 4 Foundation. There is no version premium at Foundation level. The three PeopleCert direct options differ only in how much self-paced content and retake cover they bundle around the same exam.
| Option | List price | Current 25% promo | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exam bundle | £541 | £406 | Official eBook, exam voucher, learning resource kit |
| eLearning | £1,235 | £926 | Adds interactive eLearning and auto-marked sample papers |
| eLearning+ | £1,483 | £1,112 | Adds a free exam retake and an official mock exam |
The exam bundle is the cheapest direct route to a Version 5 Foundation certificate. As with ITIL 4, third-party resellers may offer exam-only vouchers for self-study candidates below the PeopleCert bundle price, though at launch that reseller supply is thinner for Version 5 than for the established ITIL 4 exam. For the full ITIL 4 Foundation pricing picture, including reseller and Accredited Training Organization bundles, see exam fees UK.
The ITIL 4 to Version 5 Bridge (existing holders)
If you already hold ITIL 4 Foundation, you do not have to re-sit the whole exam to get the current-version credential. PeopleCert publishes a dedicated ITIL Foundation Bridge (Version 5) aimed at ITIL 4 certificate holders, covering only what changed. It is the single cost that exists for Version 5 and not for ITIL 4, and it is materially cheaper than a fresh Foundation.
| Option | List price | Current 25% promo | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exam bundle | £199 | £149 | Official eBook, exam voucher, learning resource kit |
| eLearning | £454 | £340 | Adds interactive eLearning and auto-marked sample papers |
| eLearning+ | £546 | £409 | Adds a free exam retake |
At £199 the Bridge exam bundle is about two-fifths the cost of the £541 full Foundation bundle. The Bridge only makes sense if the credential currency actually matters to your role or employer; an ITIL 4 Foundation certificate remains valid on its own terms whether or not you take it.
Upgrade, or stay on ITIL 4?
ITIL Version 5 runs alongside ITIL 4 rather than superseding it. PeopleCert does not revoke or expire an ITIL 4 certification because a new version has shipped; it stays current under the same three-year renewal cycle. That makes doing nothing a legitimate, zero-cost option, not a lapse.
| Route | Direct cost | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Stay on ITIL 4 | £0 | Credential still valid; no employer or role requirement for the current version |
| Foundation Bridge to Version 5 | £199 to £546 | Employer values current-version currency, or you want the newest credential on record |
| Fresh Version 5 Foundation | £541 to £1,483 | Rarely worth it for an existing holder; the Bridge covers the same outcome for less |
Higher Version 5 modules
Above Foundation, PeopleCert keeps the same commercial structure it uses for ITIL 4: accredited training is mandatory for every module, so there is no standalone exam-only fee to quote, and the comparable figure is training-plus-exam. Version 5's advanced modules were still rolling out through 2026, and their per-module pricing tracks the ITIL 4 higher-module level of around £1,359 per module via PeopleCert eLearning rather than sitting at a premium. Confirm the current Version 5 module roster and any module-specific pricing directly with PeopleCert before budgeting a full pathway, as the advanced tiers were the newest part of the launch.
